Welcome to Miss Connolly's Second Grade Class!
Welcome parent(s), guardians, and families to Miss Connolly's class website! My name is Cathryn Connolly and I will be your child's second grade teacher this year. Let me stoart off by saying that I am very excited to meet each and everyone of the students. In second grade this year, the students will be learning a lot of content in areas such as Math. Reading, Science, Social Studies, and Language Arts.
Math
In Math, the class will be learning how to tell time, add, subtract, multiply, and divide, how to analyze place value, solve word problems and fractions.
Reading
Reading will consist of making predictions, retelling a story, fluency, identiying parts of a story such as characters, setting, etc., and searching for supporting details.
Science
In science, the students will be exploring animals, insects, volcanoes, how to take data, graphs, plants, among other things.
Social Studies
Students will be learning about pioneers, Native Americans, the gold rush, continents, countries, states, landforms, and different types of climate.
Language Arts
Students will be learning and reviewing parts of speech (nouns, verbs, adjectives...), parts of a sentence, how to write a paragraph, similies, compound words, synonyms, onomatopias, metaphors, alliteration, idioms, and how to write an essay.
Overall, I am very excited to meet everyone! I cannot wait to teach new content to the students and make them strive for what they really want. See you all soon!
